Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Instructions:
- Combine blackberries, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, and 1 tbsp of lemon juice in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes until the berries burst and the liquid becomes a deep purple.
- Remove from heat and pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing on the berries with a spoon to extract all the concentrated juice; discard the seeds.
- Let the syrup cool for 5 minutes.
- In a large pitcher, combine the fresh squeezed lemon juice and 4 cups of cold water.
- Add the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and whisk vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved and the liquid is clear.
- Pour the cooled blackberry syrup into the lemon base and stir gently to combine.
